At Silent Voices, we know that the loudest construction sites can sometimes be the loneliest. We’re a charity with a simple goal: to make sure no one in our industry feels like suicide is the only way out.
Welcome to Silent Voices.
We’re bringing mental health advocacy down to earth. From site visits to one-on-one support, we’re here to listen when things get heavy. We’re more than just a charity; we’re a community making sure that "looking out for your mates" means more than just spotting them on a ladder.
At present the number of suicides within the UK construction industry is 507! That's 2 a day - and rising! There are many reasons for this, but the main one is that so many people simply won't talk about this pandemic.
Are you in crisis and need urgent help? We have the help you need...
“As men, we put on our big PPE, heavy set coats, bright orange gear, heavy boots. We use it as camourflage, as if we’ve got to be that bit stronger, a bit swearier and brasher, with our chests out.
It’s not the real us, it’s a facade, and it’s the only industry that's still like that.”

Silent Voices is a construction organization based in the UK, aimed at raising awareness of the shockingly high numbers of suicides within the construction industry. At the time of writing this, the number of suicides in the UK is 507. Which is 2 construction workers taking their own lives - every day!!
